The Spanish language online publication writes:
Excellent quality shirts, highly innovative, designed in Barcelona whose sales are destined to a social cause, are the four main ingredients that make DonandMerit an exceptional brand on every account.
For each shirt sold, DonandMerit donates $5 to finance clean water project in countries with an extreme need. And they make it easy to partake; the client registers his shirt by way of a QR code that can be found on the shirt’s hangtag or directly on the Website where the customer will be able to receive detailed information, GPS coordinates and photos of the project.
DonandMerit’s shirts are innovative, and besides using Italian fabrics of the highest quality, being made in Spain and designed in Barcelona; they also have five hidden pockets for stashing the wallet, passport and Smartphone; a dream-come-true for every cosmopolitan man.
The article was accompanied by a number of photos, one which was taken by Barcelona based photographer, Isidro de Quesada, for Coolture Magazine’s winter special on Barcelona’s design talent. In this shot we see designer Curro Claret in DonandMerit’s BCN#01.
Curro is the man behind Metalarte’s successful Shoelaces lamp – a project Curro started through a collaboration with the renowned Spanish shoe brand, Camper, the Arrels Foundation (Barcelona) and San Martín de Porres Foundation (Madrid). His idea is to involve people at risk of social exclusion, who have lived on the street in the past, in a design process, as an opportunity to help them with their recovery.
“This is not charity, but rather a chance to offer more disadvantaged people new opportunities to feel valid and creatively alive.” (Metalarte.com)
DonandMerit feels proud to be associated with, albeit in a small way, such a great initiative that reinforces the idea of design with purpose.
